It might be 5 stars actually, I'm probably under marking because it was an audiobook. Much as I prefer someone reading to me while I drive, rather than vapid top 40 DJs on the radio, the narrator never reads the book the way I would. For one thing she's too slow, eleven hours? Who has that kind of time? Anyway, all that aside, I enjoyed the book very much and I am now into the second one. I thought the world-building was imaginative and detailed, the characters were diverse and well-drawn, the kids were kids, Rose was likable and Declan was a little too perfect. The story was engaging and the villain properly evil. It was a great read (er, listen).
